Since its introduction the Sargus reels have proven to be giant killers.
Often used on sea charter boats. Taking abuse day after day not to mention the occasional dunk in salt water they have often outlasted much dearer reels. Their main strength is in their properly sealed ball bearings combined with the lack of switchable anti reverse. Leaving out this control lever leaves one less hole in the reel where water can get in. The performance of the gears and drag system are consistent with most reels in this price range.
